California photography

Fred left California to get back to the Real Life in Sweden. A jet lag of incredible proportions has occupied the mind and body of the author. "I've slept for the last few days, man, do I need a back massage." In-joy pictures from SF and LA!

Couchsurfing and Ridesharing in California

While trying to figure out what to do after Comic-Con I was pretty sure I wanted to see San Francisco so instead of heading to Amtrak's website I typed in Craigslist in my browser and more specifically the Ride Sharing part. I found Asad and his Ram 2500! It cost me $50 and way more fun than a train ride. Definitely check it out when in the states.

After an interesting ride from San Diego to San Francisco I can honestly say driving across the state is somewhat a boring thing, mainly because the Interstate 5 is a pretty straight road through the desert and it takes forever! The views: Corn field, Cow farm, Corn field, Cow farm etc. But luckily I was able to continue my couch surfing extravaganza in SF and not only that but get an introduction to the city the following day! Thank you Mena!

Furthermore I was in contact with a guy called Ethan from Zerply and I'm visiting their house in Mountain View right at this moment. Tomorrow's going to be an interesting day visiting their office. I'll tell you more about that later.

For now, in-joy some pics from the past few days.

Six Flags Magic Mountain

Imagine yourself upside down, going a trillion miles per hour, totally uncontrolled, from heights to lows in a 1/10 blink of an eye, going so fast the upcoming air and g-forces are pushing your scream back into your throat, being unable to produce anything else than a horrified face, holding on for your life, wishing you would be somewhere else and hoping for it all to come to an end. Sounds like a plane crash, doesn't it? It isn't.

What I'm describing is the feeling that engineers have produced for anybody to experience, in totally safe circumstances: Six Flags Magic Mountain and to be more specific, the beast in red and black: X2. X2 Ladies and Gentlemen. X2 makes your roller coaster experiences into new dimensions, because this one seems to have an endless amount of them.

The seating, the "car"... this doesn't seem like anything you've ridden before. "Whatever, this is going to be just another roller coaster; nothing special." -my deprived mind lies to the body in order to relax. The climb begins, back first, all you see what you leave behind; beautiful desert and increasing height until you reach the top and all you can see is sky, because you're lying on your back, slowly going faster and faster until all of a sudden the car flips you face first into a huge loop dive, fast dive, something you never felt before, something that makes you sure those deprived words when seated was a big fat lie, a lie of which without you would've never came on to this roller coaster. Instead of telling you the story of how it was, let me just show it: X2 POV Front Seat Six Flags - on Youtube INSANE!

Nine hours: Six (absolutely crazy) roller coasters = massive amount of waiting to scream for your life whenever physically possible. Among these were:
  • Viper, does 7 loops
  • The Riddler's Revenge, you stand and make many loops too in huge speeds. Biggest of its kind.
  • Deja Vu, a nice looping and throwing around first facing forward, then everything backwards.
  • Goliath, climb up 26 stories and come rumbling down at 85mph (about 137km/h) into a black tunnel. Scary!
  • Tatsu, makes you feel like you're flying, looking like Buzz Lightyear once airborne. Fast, upside down, crazy fun.
  • and X2 of course.

Worth it. Because of protectiveness, I didn't take my camera with me to the amusement park, I had a hard time keeping on to my phone, wallet and keys. Samsung phone photos this time, In-joy!

Viper, upside down 7 times? This one is for pussies.

The Riddler's Revenge: Highest and fastest Stand-Up roller coaster in the world. Yes you're standing.
