Interesting quote...

...on being away from home:

"I don't 'cope with' being away. I live to be away. I wanted this since I was a child, and my prayers were answered. When I do my laundry, I roll up everything and put it in my drawers rolled and ready to go into my 22" rollaboard Briggs & Riley suitcase."

Sounds pretty inspiring to me.

Art of Packing

The time has come for me to pack my bag again. This is how it looks before it's in anything. 1 t-shirt is missing, but otherwise we've got 6 shirts, 9 pairs of underwear, 9 pairs of socks, gym shorts, 1 t-shirt (really 2), 1 suit, 1 warmer shirt and all sorts of vital hygiene gadgets. Just remember to fold correctly!

It all fits VERY well in a Burton Zoom pack. Just watch (sorry for the horrible quality).

I was able to cram in a book (from the Millenium trilogy) in there too as you see. I love my bag.

Need advice on how to pack efficiently? Buy me a beer and I'll teach you!

Materialistic world

Why does people sooth their needs with buying materia they don't really need?

I just got back from a delicious lunch with a good friend and I don't mind spending some extra when eating. The better the happier and more satisfied. Experiences should be a general driving power among humankind, not expensive clothes or bags or shoes or whatever.

When walking back to "my office" in the pouring rain I stopped by in a few stores just because of the typical fall weather and I realized that I don't need any of the things that are for sale. Nothing. I'd rather put hundreds of euros on a vagabond trip into the unknown than buying myself new content into my wardrobe.

Once you're unable to determine 'home' anymore, that's the time when you realize how little you actually need material wise. Fresh clothes, enough to make it at least for three weeks is all you really need.

The truly in-joyable things in our world are free and I mean it. Good food isn't free of course, but the people you eat with are much more enjoyable if you haven't bought them. Experiences that you get to share with somebody are unforgettable. Laughter and fun.

If I had to choose between a new television and a trip to Rio de Janeiro, the choice is crystal clear. A TV won't help you grow into anything else than a slave of the daily programme.

Think about it. In-joy the world while it's in-joyable!

I know for a fact that I'm going to be in Finland for exactly 4 days in the beginning of December. After that only time will tell. I hope I'm able to capture some breath taking pictures during my adventures. Soon, my friends, soon I'm on the road again.

14 October 2011

Here again.
New day, new room, new faces.
Another set of clean linen.
Music flushes into my ears.
Never long enough in one place to get to know it properly.
Life of a traveling man.
Might get rough.
Just living with it.
Soon home again for a few days.
Wash some clothes and leave again.
Short memories from life.
Longing for certain people.
Taking it all in.
Learning from every day and teaching further.
The clock keeps ticking.
Time seems like an endangered species.
Always a breakfast of joy and laughter.
Mindless games going on.
In need of a bike.
And time to spend on it.
Sometimes in a need of a massage.
Becoming something.
Something more.
Slowly.
Sacrificing.
As they say, you can't have everything.
Only one of the two good's.
Pity, isn't it?
Seems to be true.
Keep up, the world keeps spinning.
And it will.
On and on.
In-joy while you're around.
Talk to you when I meet you.
