Finland is the World Champion of Hockey!

As many of you might know, Finland won the hockey world championship yesterday by beating Sweden 6-1 in the final. The country, and especially Helsinki went nuts. Even firetrucks had Finnish flags on them driving around the market square with their sirens on. What about the cops? Partying as well.

Last time this rare epicness happened was 16 years ago in 1995. Last time I was too young to understand what was going on or interest myself in hockey for that matter. Now when I'm older I didn't have the chance to witness this incredible moment in Finnish hockey history on site. No. I enjoyed the game in Sweden of all the countries. This victory being as frequent as a total solar eclipse, you can imagine it sucks not being able to participate in this national joy in Finland. Nonetheless, this day was awesome.

The game was yesterday, but the real ceremony with the team happened today in Helsinki. I had the privilege of following the winning ceremony at the Helsinki South Harbor from a webcam with an insane update rate of one frame per minute. Here, let me show you the difference between 17.40 - an hour before the team was set to arrive - and 19.05 - when the party was fully on. In-joy! Hopefully you got a bit of the joy.
